McGregor gives injury update
Conor McGregor suffered a quick night at the office last Saturday after picking up an injury just seconds into his UFC comeback against former adversary Max Holloway.
McGregor who was marking his first fight in 5 years after suffering an horrific leg break against Dustin Porier, was unfortunate to pick up another leg injury, this time in his right leg after opening the bout with a jumping knee.
Despite attemping to continue the fight, it was evident McGregor was compromised and referee Mike Beltran waved the fight off just 1 minutes and 9 seconds into the first round.
Now Conor McGregor has taken to X to give an update on his injury. McGregor confirms that he has torn both his ACL and meniscus, resulting in the same injury he picked up in 2013, coincidently in a fight with Max Holloway.
McGregor hopes that with rehab and training, he should be back in fighting shape come Summer 2027. He posted:
Update: It was acl and meniscus. It is the same injury as the first Holloway fight, only this time in the opposite leg. Quite shocking. I returned to competition within 9 months to fight Diego Brandao back then. With today’s regenerative medicine advancements and improved training methods it is well within my realm to return by next summer. I am walking without a crutch. i done leg extension machine work the other day to no issue. So I can walk without aid, and activate my quad under resistance. All very positive. I am maximum discipline and have maintained it fully since the bout. I wonder was I saved from something worse here. I believe so. I would have attended the after party as “the man” and who knows then. I believe I was saved.
Thank you God!
On we go, no sad stories. Thank you for the support and well wishes everyone, your health is your wealth. ❤️🙏
